About Us

Maytav is run by Sharon Ron, M.Ed. CCC-SLP and Miriam Mandel Levi, M.Sc. (A), SLP (C) accomplished  Speech Language Pathologists licensed in Israel, the United States and Canada.  Both have Masters degrees in Human Communication Disorders and have a combined 25 years of experience working with the adult population.  They have extensive experience working in hospitals as well as in outpatient care, nursing homes, and home health care in conjunction with the Kupot Cholim.  Sharon, Miriam and all Maytav employees are licensed by the Ministry of Health in Israel.

Sharon and Miriam have taught courses in the field of neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders in a number of graduate programs in American universities and have lectured at many conferences and in numerous medical settings in Israel, the United States and Canada.

Our Clinic Directors:

Sharon Ziegler Ron, M.Ed. CCC-SLP

Sharon Ziegler Ron, M.Ed. CCC-SLP received her BA degree from Bar Ilan University and Master's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Virginia. She has a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), Virginia State Licensure, Israeli licensure as a speech language pathologist from the Israel Ministry of Health and is a Certified VitalStim Therapy Provider.

Sharon worked in hospitals in both acute care and rehabilitation for many years in the United States prior to making aliyah. She has specialized in dysphagia for the past 7 years and is currently the Israel representative for VitalStim Therapy which is a highly effective treatment for swallowing disorders using neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to strengthen and retrain swallow musculature.

Sharon teaches many courses as part of the distance learning program at University of Cincinnati in the Master's program in Communication Disorders. She has taught Voice Disorders, Dysphagia, Advanced Dysphagia and Stuttering. She also supervises students at hospitals in Jerusalem in acute care and rehabilitation units.   

Sharon also lectures frequently in many area hospitals and nursing homes and at medical conferences. She has lectured to doctors, nurses, speech language pathologists and other medical and paramedical professionals on topics such as swallow function, swallow treatment, voice disorders and related topics.

Sharon lives in Neve Daniel, Gush Etzion with her husband and two sets of twins.

Miriam Mandel Levi, M. Sc. (A), SLP (C)

Miriam Mandel Levi, M. Sc. (A), SLP (C) received her B.A. from University of Toronto and her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.  She is a registered Speech Language Pathologist with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario and is licensed to practice in Israel by the Ministry of Health. Miriam received specialized training and is a certified provider of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) which is a highly effective therapy for speech problems associated with Parkinson’s disease who are suffering from speech impairments.  She is also certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology in Accent Modification.

Miriam has worked with adults in a variety of acute and rehabilitation hospitals in Canada and Israel.  She has consulted to many nursing homes in Jerusalem and has extensive experience in home health care.  Miriam has supervised graduate students from Canadian and American universities in many of these settings.

Miriam has taught numerous courses in her field to undergraduate and graduate students in Speech Language Pathology.  She taught Dysphagia, Adult Language Disorders and Motor Speech Disorders at University of North Texas and Nova Southeastern University’s Distance Learning programs.  She taught Neurological Bases of Communication at Maalot, Jerusalem. She currently teaches courses in neurology, neurogenic language disorders, neurogenic speech disorders and neurogenic cognitive disorders at the University of Cincinnati (Distance Learning).

Miriam lives in Bet Shemesh with her husband and three children.

Our Staff:

We have a highly qualified and experienced staff of speech language pathologists who perform home health speech therapy and will come to your home, nursing home or other facility within the greater Jerusalem, Gush Etzion and Beit Shemesh areas to evaluate and treat you or your loved one. Our therapists are fluent in English and Hebrew.
